Ethel Parmer Lewellen Stephens was born on September 17, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois to the union of Ruby Green and John Parmer, who both proceed her in death. Ethel was affectionally called "ET." Ethel accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. Ethel and her sister Dorothy moved to Detroit, MI at a very young age when her mom became ill. Ethel attended Detroit Public Schools and received her degree in business. After 30 years of service, Ethel retired from the Internal Revenue Services.
Ethel met and married Walter Lewellen. And to their union four beautiful children were born. Donita Lewellen Wright (deceased), Walter Glenn Lewellen (Maria), Wanda Lewellen Jenkins, and Sandra Lewellen Crump (Terry). Ethel's sister Dorothy Parmer Wilcox proceeded her in death. After Walter died, Ethel met and married Felton Stephens. He has proceeded her in death.
Ethel leaves to cherish her grandchildren, Thomas Leon Wright, LaSean Darnell Lewellen, Monica Wright Burgess, Sanya Ramsey Buckner, and Erica Lewellen Hall. She also leaves to cherish a host of great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
Ethel had a love for the arts. She enjoyed painting, playing the piano, and drawing pictures of animals and anything that caught her eye. She loved going to ceramics classes at the Madison Senior Center in Madison, AL. When she lived in Madison, she was the secretary for the Senior Center. She enjoyed interacting with other people at the center and she was well known there. Anyone who knew Ethel loved her smile and her zest for life. Family was everything to her. Ethel loved to read, cook scrumptious meals in the kitchen and work on her beautiful flowers in her garden. Ethel will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
