Obituary of Etta Bowen

Etta Elizabeth Bowen, 76, passed away July 5, 2010. She was born in Henderson, North Carolina to Herman and Veronica Brinkley. She was a loving wife and cared for her husband until he passed away from a battle with cancer. She was mother and best friend to five children and loved all of her grandchildren unconditionally. Mrs. Bowen was the shoulder anyone could lean on and a good listener to all she knew. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, sand art and watching TV, especially the old shows like Bonanza and the Andy Griffith show. She is survived by her children, Joy, Robby, Darryl, Linda and Glen; grandchildren, Kelli, Richard, Mandy, Timmy, Robert Lee, Amber, Travis, Brandon, Laramie, Cheyenne, Joshua, Jordan and Jamaal; great-grandchildren, Jacob, John IV, John, Michael, Olivia, Kayla, Rebecca, Kyle, Laramie and Ava; and a brother, Herman Brinkley, Jr. (Gay). Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Arlington Park Funeral Home on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Steve McCollum, officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm at the funeral home on Thursday, July , 2010. Pall bearers are her grandchildren as follows: Travis, Richard, Brandon, Laramie, Timmy, and Joshua and Bill will serve as honorary pall bearer.
