Evelyn Mary Chipps, age 85, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 5, 2022.

She was born on Wednesday, December 9, 1936, in Olivet, Michigan to Henry A. and Wilna A. (Fleming) Campbell. She married Arleff R. (Bob) Chipps on August 23, 1957. They were married for sixty-five years. She worked at the University of Michigan for thirty years, most of that time she was at the College of Literature, Science and Arts.

Evelyn was a member of the Dexter Gospel Church in Dexter, Michigan for over forty years where she served as the church organist and pianist as well as a Sunday School Teacher. In the 1990's she and her husband retired from the University of Michigan and moved to Sharon, Pennsylvania where she and Bob managed the day-to-day operation of the Independent Gospel Mission, an organization her father had helped found and pastor the New Fellowship Baptist Church. In 2006 Bob and Evelyn moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where they lived and served at the New Heights Baptist Church. In 2010 they moved to Jacksonville, Florida and became active members at Victory Baptist Church. No matter where they lived, Evelyn was always very active in the music ministry of the church they attended.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Arleff (Bob) Chipps; her daughters, Melody (John) Hewitt of Jacksonville, FL and Mary (Bryan) Allen of Hermitage, PA; her grandchildren, Christian (Corinne) Allen, Alex (Megan) Fox, Brandon Allen, Bethany Allen and Joshua Allen; her four great-grandchildren, Aidan and Leia Allen, and Benjamin and Charlotte Fox; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Wilna Campbell; her sister, Barbara Manahan; and her grandson, Robert Fox.
