Obituary

Evelyn L. Cribbs, 88, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on November 27. 2018. Evelyn was born on August 7, 1930 to Doyle Lewis and Molly (Shaw) Shows in Leesburg, Florida and moved with her family as a young girl to Jacksonville, FL where became a lifelong resident.

Evelyn began working at the age of 14 and hard work remained a centerpiece of her life ever since. After graduating from Jackson High School, she began working for Jackson Markets (Mini Marts), later at Hertz Rent-A-Car before eventually switching to the petroleum industry where she worked for more than 30, including at Gulf Oil, Spears TBA Center, BP Operations and Richardson Oil Company. It was said of her that, "She wasn't necessarily in charge, but Evelyn ran the show."

Evelyn was a hard worker and she knew her stuff - much of it was self-taught. Her diligence extended to her family and she did whatever she had to do to take care of her two children, often working three jobs at a time to make ends meet.

It was through their work in the oil industry that she met the love of her life and forever partner, Robert Clay Cribbs, Jr. with whom she enjoyed 43 years of marriage, traveling widely and spending time with their family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Beloved wife of Robert Clay Cribs, Jr., loving mother of her son Randy Goldman and his wife Nadine, daughter Kathy Driscoll and her husband Jim, stepchildren Terri Hill, Sheri Johns, Janet Schroeder (Ron), and Robert C. Cribbs, III. Adoring grandmother of Josh Goldman, Jessi Johnson, Jimmy Driscoll, John Dowling and Jamie Petteway. Devoted sister of William E. Shows (Debbie), Patricia Dawson (Fred), Linda Mullis, Norma Camlin (John) and sister-in-law of Jim Cribbs (Connie). Adored by her great-grandchildren Caleb Goldman and Jaden Johnson and 17 other great-grandchildren. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and she was predeceased by her granddaughter Carly Driscoll, nephew Mike Green, sister Margie Green and son-in-law Roger Hill.

She will be missed by the many she loved, nurtured and called friends. Services will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Arlington Park Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation 12:30-1:30pm and funeral to follow.
