IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evelyn Willie
Strickland
April 1, 1930 – August 17, 2025
On August 17th 2025, God wrapped his loving arms around Evelyn and welcomed her into His Kingdom at the age of 95, at her home in Mandarin due to natural causes. She had bravely fought a tough battle with the help of Hospice. Evelyn Willie was born on April 1, 1930 in Sand Mountain, AL, was a lifelong passionate follower of Jesus who lived her life to share his love with others and had an unwavering faith that was proven always. She never gave less than all of herself to each person, task, or endeavor and possessed the unique ability to make each person in her life feel exceedingly special. She was a friend to the lonely, a champion of many, and a kind and compassionate person. Fiercely independent, she loved working in her yards, gardens, painting, cooking, shopping in consignment stores, driving until early 2025.
Evelyn is survived by loving sons Norman Carter (Jennie), Scottsboro, AL, Terry Strickland (Monica), Dennis Strickland (Debra) and loving daughters Sheila Crowder (Clay Deceased) and Angie Jackson (Kenny) all of Jacksonville. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard Lee Strickland, Sr., her sons Donnie Carter & Richard Strickland, Jr.
Family will receive friends at the Chapel of Arlington Memorial Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211 on August 23rd, 2025 from 1pm to 2pm. A Celebration of her life will begin at 2pm. Thereafter, she will be buried next to her husband at Arlington Memorial Cemetery across street.
We have lost a sweet angel on Earth and Heaven has welcomed a beautiful daughter home.
