IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Fayetta
Suggs
August 29, 1934 – December 30, 2022
On December 30, 2022, Fayetta Rowe Suggs, loving wife of 71 years to Robert and mother to three daughters, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side at Community Hospice in Fernandina Beach, FL.
Faye as most knew her, was born on August 29, 1934, in Burdine Kentucky, the heart of the coal mining industry and Faye was a true "coal miner's daughter". Living in Kentucky helped influence her lifelong love of the mountains. Many years later, their family settled in Savannah, GA and through her brother Albert, she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob). After marriage, Faye was a dutiful Navy wife throughout the years as the family moved to many different duty stations. She excelled in entertaining at her home and has met military members from many areas of the world. Her love of entertaining friends followed her throughout her life.
Faye and Bob developed a love of travel and began traveling by RV while they lived in Woodbine, GA. Over the next 30 years, they traveled around the country and Canada. Faye's favorite trip was to Nova Scotia, and she developed many close friendships during their travels. While traveling, they discovered Okeechobee, FL; and because their love of fishing, they settled there. They would summer in the mountains of Blairsville, GA at Choestoe Falls RV Park and Winter in Okeechobee. She prided herself with entertaining friends and family wherever she went.
Faye was multi-talented. She was a wonderful cook, loved to sing, and could tell a great joke. She enjoyed singing, going to plays, out to dinner, and playing games with her friends at her final home at Osprey Retreat in Amelia Island, FL. She had developed friendships with many of the staff and especially her friend Cay. She will be missed deeply by her friends, but mostly by her daughters and family. We find peace that she is reunited with the love of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F Suggs; her parents, Floyd and Clara Rowe; her sister, Florene; and brothers, Buford, Bill, and Albert. She is survived by her daughters, Nita Nelson, Pat (Rick) Brawner, and Cathy (Reggie) Johnson; grandchildren, David (Autumn) Tucker, Gregg Nelson, Julie Tucker, Nikki Johnson, and Cody (Bree) Johnson; great grandchildren, Deanna (Jamey) Beal, Tori Tucker, Tyler Tucker, Ashlyn Taylor, Chloe Kipp, Tegan Tucker, Anglin Tucker, Lily Johnson, Braelyn Ralph, Reece Tucker, Tenley Johnson, and Ricky Tucker; great great grandchildren, Raine Dalager, Katey Beal and Nova Clark; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on January 4, 2023, at Arlington Park Funeral Home, Jacksonville FL with visitation beginning at 10:30-11:30 AM and a service officiated by Faye's devoted friend, Pastor Dan Krupp at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, please send to your favorite charity of your choice.
