Obituary

Florence Ward Williams, 92, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at her home in Saint Johns, Florida. Florence was born on April 17, 1927 in Queens, New York, the daughter of William and Florence (nee Mohr) Ward.

She was a long time resident of Lynbrook, New York having attended and graduated from the East Rockaway High School, East Rockaway, NY. Upon graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper for Singer Sewing Machine Inc., JJ Newberry Department Store, and later in life for an electrical contractor and a caterer. On November 20, 1948, Florence married her true love, Ralph F. Williams at Saint John's Lutheran Church, Lynbrook, NY. In raising their four children, 3 sons and 1 daughter, Florence became active in civic organizations volunteering with the Board of Elections and holding numerous positions in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Her passion was reading novels and enjoying her Weimaraner and Vizslas. Later in life, Florence and Ralph found joy living in their homes in Honesdale PA and Stuart FL.

Florence is survived by her sons: Robert & wife Dianne of Malverne, NY and Delray Beach, FL; Thomas & wife Lynda of Davie, FL; Peter & wife Patricia of Royal Palm Beach, FL; and her daughter, Susan & husband Thomas Borys of St. Johns, FL. She is also survived by grandsons: Jeffrey Williams, wife Stacey & great grandchildren Aaron & Ian; Michael Williams, Bryan Borys, Kevin Williams, and granddaughters Jaimie Borys, Christine Lagasse and her husband Joseph & great grandchildren Madison & Katie.

Florence was predeceased by her husband Ralph F. Williams, who passed away on May 12, 2008 at The Broadmoor-ALF in Fort Pierce, FL, after battling Alzheimers.

Florence was a proud Charter Member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Palm City, FL where memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 11:00am, with Interment to follow in the Church Gardens.
