Gary Carter Starkey, 65, of Hilliard, Florida passed away on October 20th surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with cancer. Gary was born on August 19, 1957 in Jacksonville, Florida. He moved to Hilliard, Florida 23 years ago to enjoy his dream of a peaceful, country lifestyle. Gary loved his children and grandchild unconditionally. He was a loving husband, son, brother, brother in law, uncle, and loyal friend. Gary will forever be in our hearts. He will live on in the stories people share of how he touched their lives, and through the love that is visible in the eyes of our family and friends.

Gary graduated from Terry Parker High School in 1975 before beginning his 33-year career at JEA. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 2358. Gary retired in 2010 to spend more time with family and friends, to tend to his animals, gardens, and numerous varieties of fruit trees, and to pursue the many hobbies he enjoyed so much.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Michele, his two sons Gary Jr. (Jessica) and David, his grandchild, Nicholas, his parents Richard and Marlene, his brother, Richard Jr. (Elizabeth), and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be a memorial service held at Arlington Park Funeral Home on Saturday, October 29th. The family is asking for thoughts and prayers as they grieve Gary's loss.
