IN LOVING MEMORY OF
George
Diaz
August 18, 1936 – September 4, 2024
George Díaz was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on August 18, 1936. He passed away peacefully at the Taylor Care Center in Jacksonville, Florida on September 4, 2024.
When he was a child, his family moved from Puerto Rico to New York City, where he married Myrna Rosado. They started their family after returning to Puerto Rico. He had a career spanning 42 years as an electronics technician with the Department of Defense, servicing and maintaining radar systems aboard U.S. Navy ships. In 1975, George moved his family from Puerto Rico to Jacksonville and retired in 2004.
George's favorite hobby was working on used cars. After retirement he frequented coffee shops and breakfast places with his son-in-law Dan. He faithfully attended and served in various congregations of the Body of Christ in Jacksonville. He lived a faith-filled life, always confessing Jesus Christ as his Savior.
George moved to Taylor Manor in October 2019 and transferred to Taylor Care Center in April 2024. He made many friends at the Manor and was selected to be King of Hearts in 2021. The dedicated Taylor staff and Community Hospice team ministered to him during these years.
He was preceded in death by his grand-daughter Raechel and special cousin Carmen. He is survived by his children Alida Anderson (Dan), Anita Schirmer (Alberto), Carmen Walker (Randy) and Jorge (Jennifer); grandchildren Andrew "Ben" (Stephanie), Andrew (Cassidy), Javier, Ian, Catherine, Sarah, and Matthew; 5 great-grandchildren; and special cousin Rosie.
