Obituary of George Hubbard

George Thomas Hubbard, born on February 7, 1925 in Richmond, VA to Daily Hubbard and Martha (Patty) Mims Hubbard entered into rest on November 28, 2010. His family relocated to Danville when he was two. He married Olivia Gibson in December of 1943, and joined the Army in 1944. Mr. Hubbard served in the South Pacific during WWII. He then moved to Jacksonville in 1953. His working career included Great Southern trucking Co., National Trucking Co., Cotney Tire Co., Riverside Auto Parts, American Trucking Equipment Co., Great Atlantic Boiler Co., Axle Service and he retired from Horton TruckPro. He was also a volunteer driver for CAM Automotive. He is preceded in death by his father Daily Hubbard; mother Martha Hubbard; and daughter Judy Mitchell. George is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Olivia Hubbard; brother, William Hubbard; daughter, Patti Anania (Michael, whom he called son); granddaughter, Julie Warren (Kevin); grandsons, John Mitchell (Holly), James Mitchell, John Richard Monroe II (Mayme); step-granddaughters, Angela and Maria Anania; great-grandson, Jordan Warren; great-granddaughters, Naomi, Emory Monroe and Savannah Mitchell; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge Jacksonville Beach. Since retirement he has taken much pride in his family and his home. Family will receive friends, Friday, December 3, 2010 from 1:30-2:30pm at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida with a graveside service to be held at 3:00pm in Arlington Park Cemetery.
