Obituary

Gino Nick Rocca, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 7th, 2018.  Gino was born on December 31, 1933 in Niagara Falls, NY.  He was the only son with 3 sisters and was the 1st generation born in the United States.  He served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1961 and served time in Germany.  Gino was a machinist by trade and a gifted mechanic, helping anyone who asked him. He had a love of fast cars and motorcycles.  Later in life he found his passion for giving back to the community and fellowship through Christ with the Knights of Columbus Council 4727.  He held several jobs within the Council, helped with State projects, Habitat for Humanity and several fundraisers.  He was always giving of himself for others.

Gino leaves to cherish his memory, son and dedicated caregiver, Keith Rocca; daughters, Linda (wife of deceased son BG), Lois Steele, Claudia Osteen (Wayne Hanby), Debbi Hicks, Kenetha Holder (Mike), and Regina Beckworth (Steven); numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren; not discounting several other family members and friends whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be held at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Rd, Jacksonville, Florida, Thursday September 13th from 5-7 pm.  There will be a Celebration of Life Mass on Friday September 14th, 11am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 724 Arlington Road North.  A reception will immediately follow the Mass in the Church Hall.

If you would like to make a donation in Gino's honor, please donate to the Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll drive. This benefit was something Gino was involved in as long as he was able.  It is a campaign to help those with intellectual disabilities.  Make a donation - get a Tootsie.  September 22 & 23 at Christ the King and Resurrection Churches.  September 29 & 30 at Publix - Merrill & Townsend and Publix - Atlantic & University.
