Obituary of Gordon Thomas

Gordon Joel Thomas, 75, passed away January 12, 2010. He was a native of Shreveport, Louisiana and had lived in Jacksonville for many years. Mr. Thomas was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and a friend to all who knew him. He served his country faithfully in the US Navy during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife of over 20 years, Gloria Thomas; daughters, Becky Abbott of Peoria, Illinois and Anne Marie Mercer of Dunlop, Illinois; grandsons, Scott Abbott and Eric Mercer and granddaughters, Christy Abbott and Lindsay Mercer. Funeral Services with full military honors will be held on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 2pm in the chapel of Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville with Pastor Matthew Rowley, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of monetary donations to the charity of your choice.
