Obituary

Grace Lindewirth, born in Pittsburgh in 1930, was the eldest of four children to Frank and Josephine Richert. She spent her early years alongside her three brothers—Joe, and twins Frank and John—on a farm near Zelienople, PA, before moving to West Palm Beach, FLA for her college years.

A talented artist, Grace pursued her passion by enrolling in art school in New York City. She later married Donald Lindewirth, also of Pittsburgh, and together they returned to the Zelienople area, where they established the Golden Rooster Restaurant. The restaurant became well-known for its "Broasted Chicken and Red Magic Steaks," and it was adorned with many of Grace's original artworks. Alongside her roles as hostess, bartender, and waitress, she used her baking talents to enhance the dessert menu.

Grace and Don raised three children—Suzanne, Donald (Del), and Andy— who quickly became part of the restaurant's pleasant and cohesive workforce.   After 30+ years as restauranteers, they retired to Florida to welcome Suzanne and Howard's sons, Jarrett and Gradon. Summers were spent at the Chautauqua Institution, where Grace and Don built cherished memories until Don's passing in 1995.

Grace's family continued to grow with the arrival of grandchildren Zach and John from Del and Mary in New Jersey.   Andy, ever the adventurer, made his home in Colorado with Helene Hall. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Arthur, from grandson Gradon and his wife Emma, and Ismael and Olivia, from grandson Jarrett and his wife Veronica.

Throughout her life, Grace remained devoted to her art, creating stunning portraits, landscapes, and pottery. Her home became a gathering place for friends, where she served as both a gracious host and a mediator of spirited debates.

Grace passed away on March 30, 2025, in her 95th year. She leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and resilience, carried on by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren
