Graciela Gonzalez Jimenez passed away March 17th, 2016. Born in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba in 1948, she came to the United States with her sister Alicia through Operation Peter Pan where they were later joined by their parents. In 1964 Grace moved to Washington, DC and in 1965 gave birth to her son Bobby. She and her family then moved to Columbia, South Carolina where her daughter Michelle was born, before settling in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. An extraordinary spirit, Grace lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. With her caring nature, she was devoted to her many beloved pets over the years. Grace was a woman who valued a loving family, strong friendships, and good food. She had a passion for cooking and travel which took her from Australia to Turkey, through Europe and Latin America. A truly larger than life individual, Grace will be dearly missed and her absence will be felt by all those whose lives she touched. She is predeceased by her mother, Graciela Nieto de Canales, her father, Raul Gonzalez, and her son Roberto "Bobby" Carrera. She is survived by her daughter Michelle Carrera. An Easter service will be given in her memory Sunday, March 27, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, Florida at 10:15. She will be interned with her family in Virginia at a later date.
