Obituary of Harold Prickett
Harold H. Prickett, 92, of Jacksonville passed away June 4, 2009. Although Harold had lived in Jacksonville for many years, he was born in Camp Hill, Alabama, and grew up and attended school in and around Auburn, AL. He also graduated from Auburn University, and sometime after earning his degree, moved to Ohio, where he worked with an ordinance crew, during WWII, test-firing artillery pieces for the military. He also served in the U.S. Army, state-side during the war. After moving to Jacksonville, he secured a job in the tax assessor's office of the city, and remained there until retirement. Harold is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Helen Kennedy Prickett, who died in 2003. He is survived by one daughter, Judy Prickett Leber, and two sons, David Prickett and H. Ray Prickett, and their families, and also a nephew, Bob Anderson. Harold, along with Helen, his wife, were active members, for many years of Jacksonville's First Baptist Church. Due to Harold's prior arrangement of donating his body to medical study, and his wishes and preferences otherwise, there will not be a funeral or memorial service held for him.
