Obituary of Harvey Clark

Harvey Richard Clark, 88, passed away June 4, 2007. He is remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, grand father, great grand father and caring friend to all who knew him. Harvey was born on October 5, 1918 in Gay, GA (Meriwether County). He graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and finished at University of Georgia. Harvey was one of the top ten graduates in the Department of Agriculture in 1940. Following graduation he was a Farm Security Advisor. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. After being discharged from the military he was appointed Georgia State Exterminator residing in Milledgeville, GA. Harvey moved his family to Jacksonville, FL in 1951 where he established Clark Pest Control. This remains a family business owned and operated by his son, Richard T. Clark. He was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church for many years. Harvey was an active member for many years in the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Sons of American Revolutions. Harvey was a past commander of the American Legion, Post # 4 in Milledgeville, GA, and also of the Forty-and-Eight. Harvey was a member of the Washington Family Descendants. Harvey was a recognized leader in pest control and received many awards from the state and national associations. Harvey semi-retired in 1981 and spent the rest of his time with his family and traveling. Harvey is survived by his loving wife Dorothy T. Clark of 66 years; daughter Dianne (Ron) Godina; son, Richard T. Clark (Susan); grand children, Ellen Clark Murphy, David Richard, Laura, Natalie and Katherine Godina; great grandson, Joshua Murphy. The family will receive friends at Arlington Park Funeral home, 6920 Lone Star Rd. Thursday, June 7, 2007 for the visitation of friends from 6-8PM. Funeral service will be held Friday, June 8, 2007 at 11AM in the chapel of Arlington Park Funeral Home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Alzheimer's Association North Eastern Florida Chapter 2123 Mango PL. Jacksonville, FL 32207 or the Museum of Southern History.
