Obituary of Hazel Kemerer
HAZEL LEONE KEMERER, 88 passed away February 13, 2008 of heart failure in Jacksonville, FL.
She was born in Greensburg, Pa July 15 1919 to the late Jesse and Agnes Whetzel. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers Russell and Robert Whetzel and her sister Agnes Whetzel Hoffman.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Charles Herbert Kemerer, and their four children Gerald, Marilyn, Richard, Gail and her husband John; five grandchildren; and three great grand children.
Hazel and Charles grew up in Greensburg, Pa. Charles career moved them to College Park, MD where they raised their family. They retired to Silver Spring Shores, FL in 1981 where they were members of the Silver Spring Shores Presbyterian Church. In March of 2006 they moved to Jacksonville, FL.
Hazel was a devoted wife and homemaker, raising her four children and two nieces, and opening their home to various family members over the years. She was also a care giver to her father and mother in law in their senior years. She was a constant loving, giving nurturer to all her family and friends. She taught Sunday School at Riverdale Presbyterian Church in MD and was a Girl Scout Leader. Together, Hazel and Charles were active members and leaders in the Circulators Square Dance Club. After the children were raised, she worked as a Personnel Clerk for the US Dept. of Agriculture before retiring. She leaves a legacy of Christian love in word and deeds, deep family values and a life time of many wonderful memories of her compassion and love.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on February 19 at Arlington Park Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the Arlington Park Funeral Home on February 18 from 6 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Heart Association or Silver Springs Shores Presbyterian Church.
