We celebrate the life of Helen Marguerite Wiggins, loving wife, mother, sister, mentor and friend. Helen was born in Hyndman, Pennsylvania on March 8, 1929. An Air Force Veteran herself, Helen has supported her husband, Lt. Col Wesley W. Wiggins throughout his military career and beyond. After raising two children, she worked for Jacksonville University and later Fields Dept. store. She has advocated for her community, instilled faith in her children and has inspired many other children along the way through her works as a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout leader, Room Mom, and Substitute teacher. After traveling the world, Helen and her family settled in Jacksonville in 1970. Helen Marguerite (Cook) Wiggins is preceded by brothers David and George and sister Mary. Helen is survived by husband Wesley W. Wiggins; daughters Pat Parker and Janet Looby; and grandchildren, Heather Parker, Christopher Looby and Sarah Looby. Diagnosed with COPD in 2001 with less than a five-year life expectancy, her strong spirit kept her with us, supporting us with her strength of will. Helen, child of God, died peacefully in her sleep on December 28, 2008. Her spirit and example will remain with us for all our lives. A funeral service will be held at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road at 11 a.m. December 31, 2008. Interment will follow in Arlington Park Cemetery.
