IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Henrietta Thomason
Wyndham
June 5, 1923 – September 2, 2021
Henrietta T. Wyndham went Home to be with her Lord on September 2, 2021 at the age of 98. She was born in Charleston County, South Carolina on June 5, 1923. She is predeceased by her Mother, Carrie White Thomason; Father, Frank Herbert Thomason; sisters, Edith Taylor, Thelma Cole and Ruby Seigler; brothers, Frank Jr., Orvin and Billy; her husband, Rufas (Elmo) Wyndham; and her niece, Daisy Proctor. She is survived by her nephews, Ronald Cole (Martha) and Donald Cole (Nancy); great niece, Susan Story (Douglas); and great nephew, Charles Clifford Cox III (Melanie).
Henrietta lived in South Carolina until she was 18, and then moved to Florida. She spent the last 31 years in the same apartment at Taylor Apartments on Chester Ave. Her work experience included Southern Bell, Sears, Mutual of Omaha, Independent Life (retired after 14 years) and odd jobs sitting with the elderly and then caring for babies. Never having had children she enjoyed this and still kept in touch with some of the children (now adults) and their families. She was thrilled when she received an invitation to the wedding of Cole Ferguson, one of the "babies" she cared for. Her last trip was to his wedding at World Golf Village this past May.
Henrietta was a volunteer at Wolfson Children's Hospital working in the library. She retired after 15 years and was honored with a lifetime membership in that Volunteer organization. Susan and Frank Davis "adopted" Henrietta at the age of 90 and in her later years was cared for by Susan & Frank, her loving next door neighbor Susan Williams, and friend Pat Miller. Henrietta has been a member of Faith United Methodist Church since 1971. Her Memorial Service will be held there at 4000 Spring Park Rd., on September 18, at 10:00 AM and officiated by Rev. Barry Andrews. The family will receive visitors before the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith UMC, 4000 Spring Park Rd, Jacksonville, 32207 or Wolfson Children's Hospital Auxiliary, 800 Prudential Dr., Jacksonville, 32207.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Arlington Park Funeral Home.
