Holger S. Espling, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 25, 1933 to parents George F. and Naeimi Marta Espling.
He retired after 25 years working as a watch repairman from Tiffany's in New York. His love of plays and gambling kept him and his wife (best friend) busy not to mention the numerous trips walking on the beach or strolling the malls. His last 3.5 years he battled cancer but still lived and he found himself visiting the library and reading many of Cusslers' books and the New York Times. He enjoyed a good game of chess or a game on the pool table. He would watch and keep up with all the golfers and even followed the Jaguars games. He would enjoy a good meal at First watch, the avocado toast was one of his favorites.
Holger was preceded in death by his parents George and Naeimi Espling, and his Wife and friend of over 50 years Aurora Evira Espling, his nephew and wife and their son Joseph & Pam Espling and little Joe.
He is survived by his brother and wife Bengt & Laura Espling, various nieces and nephews, Laurie Espling, Ben & Steve Espling, Mary Espling-Gonzalez & Pedro Gonzalez, Daniel & Michelle Espling, Carl & Danielle Espling, Arne Espling and Anita Trigo and many great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30am, Monday, January 27, 2020 at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 10472 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32246 with Rev. Father Jhon Guarnizo officiating.
An inurnment will follow at Arlington Park Cemetery, 6921, Lone Star Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32211. Military honors will be rendered immediately following the committal.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations made in his honor to St. Judes Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place • Memphis, TN 38105 Community Hospice of North Florida 4266 Sunbeam Rd, Jacksonville, Florida 32257.
