Obituary of Howard Mckeithen
Howard McKeithen returned to Paradise on September 15, 2008 to rejoin his relatives and friends on the other side. He was 82. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara and a son John McKeithen (Gazelle), daughter Trudy Mackey (Jim), two grandsons, Sean McKeithen of California and Grant Mackey of Florida and one granddaughter, Celysee Mackey of Florida. Hi is also survived by his older brother Charles in California, and his younger sister Peggy McIllwain of Tennessee.
Howard retired from BellSouth in Atlanta, Georgia in 1981 with 30 years of service. He previously held various positions in the Traffic Department of Southern Bell along the east coast of Florida from Miami to Jacksonville. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, fighting in Okinawa and performing repatriation duties in China. After his discharge in 1946 he attended Mississippi State University, graduation in 1950. He was a lifelong Sigma Chi.
Howard always believed that the Salvation Army helped those people in need. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to pay their respects ho Howard are asked to make donations in his honor to the Salvation Army.
