Obituary of Illa Chalker

Mrs. Illa "Dubie" V. Chalker, 83, entered into rest on July 9, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 17, 1929 to the late Lawrence and Clara Varnedoe in Jacksonville, Florida. She graduated from Andrew Jackson in 1947. She was instrumental in organizing class reunions. Dubie enjoyed traveling, having been to every state with the exception of Oregon, Alaska twice, Hawaii three times and every province of Canada. She had a true adoration for spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Chalker. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 wonderful years, Cullen E. Chalker, Sr.; children, Shellie Carter and Cullen (Patricia) Chalker, Jr.; grandchildren, Jaime and Ashley Carter; numerous nieces and nephews and many trusted friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 5-7:00pm at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida. Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 11:00am at the funeral home with Elder Rick Phillips officiating.
