Irma
Atiles
January 14, 1936 to August 26, 2021
Irma
Atiles, 85, went to be with the Lord on August 26, 2021.
Irma
was born and raised in Humacao, Puerto Rico. At a young age, she moved to New York City and began her biblical studies, where she met her husband, Ramon Francisco Atiles Rivera.
Irma
was a woman of impeccable character and strength, single handedly raising six children in Brooklyn, NY. She mentored many through the years, including taking two young men under her wing, rescuing them from the city streets and gang life. With a strong arm of love and an iron fist, she steered them in the right direction. By the power of faith, love and forgiveness, she was reunited with the love of her life and husband renewing their vows in 2002.
Her strong love for Jesus, praying heart and faith saw her through what some would call very difficult times and inspired many who encountered her. She modeled before us a spirit of unyielding faith, unconditional love, servitude and the right amount of feisty when needed.
Irma
was preceded in death by her parents Justina Rosa and Geronimo Rivera, and her brothers Israel Rivera and Roberto Rivera. She is survived by her husband, Frank Atiles; children; Nancy Gardonio (Michael), Betty Atiles, Lizette Silva (Rafael), Frank Atiles (Nona), Sandra Roman (David), Luis Vasquez; Siblings; Elbi Rivera, William Rivera, Geronimo Rivera, Jr., Gladys Ruiz, Maria Esther Rivera Rosa; 16 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.
Her words to live by: "With God I have everything, without him I have nothing".
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Arlington Park Funeral Home.
