Obituary of James Dill

DILL James Milton Dill,82, entered into rest on December 31, 2009 after a brief illness. Mr. Dill was a native of Waycross, GA, but had lived in Jacksonville since 1955. He was the son of the late James Patrick Dill and Mattie Hatfield Dill. Mr. Dill was a graduate of Stetson University and held a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He served as the Comptroller of the Methodist Hospital in Jacksonville for over twenty-nine years until his retirement in 1987. Mr. Dill was a proud veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. Part of his service included playing in the Eighth U. S. Army Band in Korea where he participated in the dedication ceremony for the first permanent United Nations cemetery in Korea. His decorations included the World War II Victory Medal and the Korean Service Medal with three campaign stars. Mr. Dill enjoyed music and photography and was an avid antique enthusiast. He was a member of Arlington Baptist Church. Mr. Dill is survived by his loving wife of over forty-three years, Reba Starnes Dill; one sister, Marjorie Dill Hendrix (Oscar) of Statesboro, GA; two nieces, Melva Howell (Michael) of Corryton, TN, and Theresa White (Robert) of Jacksonville, FL; and three nephews, Michael Hendrix, of Savannah, GA, Dean Hendrix, of Midville, GA, and Colonel (U.S Army Retired) Preas Street (Diana) of Augusta, GA.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, January 5th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Arlington Park Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 6th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Arlington Park Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Fred Norman officiating. Interment will follow in the Arlington Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
