James Harrell Franklin, age 82, son of Antony Suttle and Ida Allene Moore was born, April 5, 1934 in Leitchfield, Kentucky and passed away March 2, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.
James started working for the Louisville & Nashville Railroad Road in 1951 and retired from the CSX Railroad in 1987. During this time, Captain James Franklin was in the US Army and Reserve for over 15 years which included a deployment to Germany in the late 1950s.
During his employment and after his retirement James enjoyed watching train videos, and collecting all sorts of train memorabilia. He enjoyed watching football and basketball and was an avid University of Kentucky fan.
James was preceded in death by his son David Franklin, and his mother Allene Moore.
He is survived by his wife Joanna Franklin, his son Kenneth (Vanessia) Franklin, Granddaughters Sharayah Franklin, Kyrie (Timothy) Franklin Lynch, and 2 Great Grandchildren Colt and Kaiya Lynch.
A Celebration of Life will begin graveside 10 am, Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Arlington Park Cemetery, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211 with Pastor Eriberto Soto officiating.
