Obituary of James Hodges
James Bennett Hodges, known as JB, or simply J, to friends and family, passed away August 30, 2010 at the age of 78. He was born on May 29, 1932 in Clarkson, Kentucky.
JB was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He married the former Rosemary Soeder on April 11, 1964 in Louisville, Kentucky. Just under a year later they celebrated the birth of daughter Norma Kaye. Twenty-two months after that they were blessed with a second daughter, Nancy Lynne.
In 1980 JB moved from Louisville, Kentucky to Jacksonville, Florida with his job with CSX Railroad. He retired from the "Railroad" after 42 years of service.
JB was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan, especially enjoying the dominance of the basketball team. He enjoyed working in the yard and gardening. JB knew his way around a grill, often entertaining his family and friends with great burgers and steaks. But most of all JB loved his wife, family and friends.
JB is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rosie, and daughters Norma (Ken) and Nancy. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Andy, Amiee, James and Stephanie.
JB's life will be celebrated with a Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church on Friday, September 3, 2010 at 10:00am. His family will receive friends Thursday, September 2, 2010 from 5:00-8:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm in the chapel of Arlington Park Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
