James Harold Lance, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on September 20, 2026, at the age of 58. He was born on January 10, 1968, in Evansville, Indiana.

James will be remembered as a man who enjoyed life in the ways that brought him genuine happiness. He loved collecting guns and spending time at the shooting range, and he also enjoyed using a CB radio, where he was known by the handle “Grizz.” He was a foodie at heart and took special pleasure in a good ribeye steak. These simple but distinctive joys were part of the character that made him so memorable to those who knew and loved him.

Above all, James cherished his family. He adored his grandson, David Lance, who lovingly knew him as “Pa Pa,” a name that speaks to the special bond they shared. His memory will also be treasured by his wife, Lisa Lance; his daughter, Katelyn Bowden and Tora; his son, James Lance and Katie; and his son, Jeffrey Lasch and Hayley. Each of them carries forward a part of his life, his love, and the many moments they shared together.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Harold Lance Sr.; his mother, Nell Mae Hill; and his sister, Kimberly M. Lance.
