James Charles Marks, 92, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 30, 2019 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Danville, Pennsylvania on December 27, 1926 to parents James W. Marks and Frances M. Hill. He and his family moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1972.
James served in the United States Army during World War II. He married the love of his life, Cathy, in 1950 and they were married for over 57 years. He was an accountant for many years and owned his own business. He and his wife volunteered for over 30 years with Meals on Wheels. He was an active member for many years in his local church. He was honest, dependable, witty, intelligent, faithful, kind, generous, and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved watching all sports, but his passion was baseball. He enjoyed traveling, camping, boating, fishing and archery. He collected antique cars and baseball memorabilia, and he was a Scrabble enthusiast. He will be missed by all that knew him.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Catherine Marks, and one great granddaughter.
He is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Neidert of Crystal River, FL, Debra Stephenson (Lester) of Wellford, SC, Rhonda Dunn (Dann) of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren Daniel Stephenson (Michelle), Michelle May (Brian), and James Sneed (Beverley); one step grandson Dann Dunn II; and five great grandchildren.
James' family would like to thank the staff at Health Assist Personal Home Health Care for their outstanding service.
Visitation will begin at 10 am Friday, December 6, 2019 in the Arlington Park Funeral Home Chapel, 6920 Lone Star Rd., Jacksonville, Florida 32211. Funeral services will follow at 11 am with Reverend Ralph Flowers officiating. The committal will immediately follow where military honors will be rendered.
