Obituary of James Tomlinson

James Addison Tomlinson, III, 89, passed away on March 15, 2009, after an extended illness. Born June 7, 1919, in New York, NY, he was the son of Yvonne and James A. Tomlinson, Jr. After receiving a law degree at the University of South Carolina, he began his 31-year legal career in Washington, D.C., at the Department of Justice. Subsequently, he was with the Civil Air Aeronautics Board and the Department of the Air Force. Moving to Jacksonville, FL, in 1962, he was an Administrative Law Judge with the US Department of Health, Education, and Welfare until his retirement in 1975. Upon retirement, he returned to his life-long love of stamp collecting and established Arlington Stamp and Coin. In business until 1998, he closed the store in order to devote more time to travel and leisure pursuits. He is survived by his wife, Betty; his two children, Pamela and Barry; and his grandson, James. No memorial service is planned at this time. Inurnment will be in Arlington Park Cemetery.
