Obituary of Jane Barfield

Jane Ellen Barfield, 58, entered into rest peacefully on November 28, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jane was born on February 25, 1953 in Charlotte, NC to James and Florence Barfield. She relocated to Jacksonville with her family in 1963. She was a proud graduate of Christ the King, Bishop Kenny, Florida State University, where she received her BS in Marine Biology, and FCCJ from where she received her nursing degree. Jane enjoyed being a nurse and was afforded the opportunities to travel to various places in the U.S. and Europe. During her travels, she fell in love with the Southwest. She adored spending time at the Grand Canyon and enjoyed numerous whitewater rafting trips, and the serenity of the Colorado River. Jane is predeceased by her father, James R. Barfield, Sr. To cherish her memories, she leaves her mother, Florence K. Barfield; siblings, James R. Barfield, Jr. (Cheryl) and Lora (Michael) Lohr; nephew, Sean Lohr and niece, Christina Lohr; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many trusted friends and co-workers. Family will receive friends on Friday, December 2, 2011 at 10:00am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 742 N. Arlington Rd., Jacksonville, FL. A memorial mass will follow at 11:00am. A reception celebrating Jane's life will be held after the mass in the Shirley David Hall. In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorials be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society at www.jaxhumane.org, or a charity of your choice. Jane will be missed greatly in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.
