IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeannine Marie
Requa
October 30, 1928 – November 7, 2025
Jeannine (Webb) ReQua, 97 years old, passed away in her sleep on November 7, 2025. She was born in Wichita, KS on October 30, 1928. She is predeceased by her parents Quincy Clifton Webb and Gladys Verna Freer and two brothers, Wayne and Don Webb.
Jeannine graduated from Medicine Lodge High School where she was an exceptional student, cheerleader, and drum major for the marching band. She attended Southwestern College in Winfield, KS.
Married to Riley ReQua in 1947, they had three children: Riley William (Bill) ReQua (Toni), Cheryl ReQua O'Connor, and Maggie ReQua Smith (Zach).
After ranching for several years, they moved to Valley Center, KS and Jeannine began a 45-year career as an oil secretary in the gas and petroleum industry specializing in geology.
In 1947, she was honored to perform as "Spirit of the Prairie" in the Medicine Lodge Indian Peace Treaty Pageant. An active member in professional, civic, fraternal, and church associations, Jeannine held various leadership positions in Wichita Oil Secretaries' Association, Toastmistress International, Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Rainbow Girls, and First Methodist Church.
Upon her retirement, she moved to Jacksonville, FL to be near her daughters and families. Jeannine maintained an active lifestyle serving as president of the residents' associations at Hurley and San Jose Manors. She was named "Woman of the Year" for the Jacksonville Mayor's Senior Citizen Gala and enjoyed ballroom dancing, sewing, crafting, and adult coloring.
Describing her later years, she wrote, "I struggled against many health issues but never lost my fighting spirit, sense of humor, and faith in God." She is now free as a "spirit of the prairie."
Jeannine is survived by her three children and grandchildren: Patrick O'Connor (Melissa), Devon O'Connor, Nathan ReQua (Stephanie), Alison Williamson (Randy), Garett Smith, and Andrew Smith and nine great-grandchildren – all she described as her "pride and joy!"
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at The Barn, 8426 S. Ridge Road, Sedgwick, KS followed by a private internment.
