John Merion Barker, 96, (a country boy at heart) of Jacksonville, Florida was greeted in heaven on Thursday July 29th, 2021 in Jacksonville, Florida. John was born July 27th 1925 in Searcy, Arkansas, to Earl Bradford Barker and Essie West Barker.

He was predeceased by his wife Mary Mora Barker; his sons, Johnny Barker and Jerry Barker; his brothers, Thurman Barker, Earnest Barker, Arvle Barker, Ray Barker, Billy Wayne Barker; his sister, Sibyl Barker Hughes; and his great grandson, Jonathan Stewart. He is survived by his grandchildren, MaryAlice Barker Stewart and Richard Barker; great grandchildren, Delmar Stewart III, Logan Barker and Lily Barker; and great great granddaughter, Mia Stewart.

He was a proud WWII veteran, having enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves. He shared his war stories with friends and family and he especially loved wearing his military veteran WWII ball cap…he got stopped a lot thanking him for his service, and that always brought a smile to his face. John also loved working for Ford Motor Company. He was a top notch mechanic who was always asked for by name in Miami Florida.
