Obituary of John Orr
ORR John Haskell Orr, Jr. (Johnny), 65, passed away unexpectedly on December 22, 2009 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born February 19, 1944 in Augusta, Georgia to John Haskell and Mary Janis Orr. Johnny was raised in Great Falls, South Carolina and lived in Tampa before settling in Jacksonville. Johnny worked for the Florida Department of Transportation and retired after more than 35 years of public service. He is survived by his sister Mary Orr Kempski, his brother-in-law John B. Kempski, two nephews, W. Bradly Kempski and James B. Kempski, one niece, Elizabeth Kempski Baum (Terry), 10 aunts/uncles and 26 cousins. The family wishes to thank Johnny's caregivers for the care, assistance and love extended to him during the latter part of his life. We will always remember Ms. Luellen Logan, Ms. Rita Moore and Miss Sandria Smart whose services went far beyond just "caregiving". Johnny was a 40 plus year member of Arlington United Methodist Church serving faithfully as an usher for decades. Johnny loved music and it showed with his timeless vinyl record collection. His love of cars included an awesome 1970 Plymouth Road Runner and one of the first, original Mustangs. The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, January 2, 2010 from 1pm to 3pm at Arlington Park Funeral Home. A memorial service to celebrate Johnny's life will be held on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 11am at Arlington United Methodist Church Chapel, 1400 University Boulevard North, Jacksonville, Florida, Pastor Larry Shields, officiating. Private interment will be in Arlington Park Cemetery.
