Obituary of John Rowe

John L. Rowe passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013. He was born on October 10, 1942 in Ironton, OH. After graduating from Ironton High School in 1960, he began his career with the railroad in Russell, Kentucky and eventually retired from CSX Transportation in Jacksonville, FL after 39 years of service. He was an avid golfer and played football for the University of Kentucky and the Baltimore Eagles after moving to Baltimore with the railroad. He also served in the Army National Guard for seven years. John is survived by his wife of 25 years, Brenda, a daughter, Angela Ridings and son-in-law, Steve Ridings, 7 grandchildren (Madeline, Talmadge, Grayson and Meredith Eller; and Madison, Peyton and Bailey Ridings), brother, Ron Rowe, father and mother-in-law, Robert and Peggy Kelly, sister and brother-in law, Debbie and Kent Lovato; brother-in-law, Robert Kelly, Jr. and several nieces and nephews. John's greatest joy was knowing his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a gifted teacher and biblical counselor and spent many hours counseling and encouraging others. He was dearly loved by family and friends and made a difference in the lives that he touched. He was a member of Christ Church - Mandarin. Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 13 from 6 to 8 pm at Arlington Park Cemetery and Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 14 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Arlington Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Church - Mandarin - Food Pantry at 9791 Old St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
