Obituary of John Lucas
John T. Lucas, 79, of Jacksonville, FL, died Thursday, December 10, 2009. He was born August 15, 1930, in Quitman, Georgia, to John Ellis Lucas and Mattie Denson Lucas. He moved to Jacksonville at the age of six and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1949. He joined the US Navy and served with V.P. 5 until 1955. John attended the University of Florida, and graduated in 1958.John was a CPA and practiced accounting for 50 years. He was a former president of the Jacksonville Chapter of the Florida Institute of Public Accountants. John was a member of the Morocco Shriners Drum and Bugle Corps. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Donna Fitzpatrick Lucas, two daughters, Piper Nichols (David), Cabot, AR and Dorian Bruce (Randall), of Memphis, TN. Additional survivors include his sister Norma Baisden (Bud), Jacksonville, and his three grandsons, Ethan and Spencer Nichols and Riley Bruce. He was predeceased by his brother Jack W. (Ruth) Lucas, sisters Rubal (Billy) Rebston, and Gloria (Kenneth) Yates. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 18, at All Saints Episcopal Church, 4171 Hendricks Avenue.In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 3800 St. Johns Bluff Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32245, attention Sanjie.
