Obituary of John Whisnant, Sr.

John Chandler Whisnant, Sr., born January 13, 1949 in Wadesboro, North Carolina to Scipio Weldon Whisnant III and Marie Chandler Whisnant, passed away January 20, 2015 in Jacksonville, Florida. John was in the automobile business for over 30 years. He loved the water, boating and spending time with family. John was preceded in death by his Mother and Father and his nephew, Tom Whisnant of North Carolina. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cheryl Tyson Whisnant; Children, Beth Hammond (Kurt), and John Whisnant, Jr.(Jocelyn); Grandchildren, Caitlin & Cassidy Hammond, Korey Christian Taylor, Summer Whisnant & soon to be twin boys, Tyson & Jackson Whisnant; Brother, Scipio W. Whisnant IV (Ann); Niece, Rebecca W. Lane (Jeff); Nephew, Scipio W. Whisnant V; Sister, Bobbi Conley (Paul). A Visitation Gathering is scheduled 11AM-1PM, Saturday, January 24, 2015 in the chapel of the funeral home with a Celebration of Life beginning at 1PM, also in the chapel, with Pastor Wilford McCormick officiating. A Graveside Blessing will immediately follow at Arlington Park Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida.
