Obituary

John Leonard Yoho, born September 29, 1941, in New Brighton, PA, passed away Friday, September 6, 2019. John graduated from Lincoln High School, Ellwood City, PA, and from Penn State University. He was employed by Newport News Ship Building & Dry Dock Company in Virginia, CDI Marine in Jacksonville, and Global Piping in Tampa, as a piping engineer.

John was predeceased by his son Jayce Yoho, parents Jack and Ruth Yoho, and nephew Mark Bell.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Marie; two sons, Dax Yoho and Michael Yoho Harrison (Brittany); two grandchildren, Haleigh and Kasen Yoho; sisters Carol A. Tankersley (Ron) and Cindy K. Reda (Lou); brother Kenneth G. Yoho (Donna), three nephews; Todd Bell, Kenny Yoho, Jr. and Jeff Morris, and five nieces: Susan Bell, Renee Reda, Becky Geldmacher, Jennifer Sztary and Melissa Daff.

John was a 25 year Jaguar season ticket holder, attending all of the games and even following the team to London.  He was an avid golfer, spending several days a week on the course. As a result of the death of their son Jayce in a skateboarding accident in 2003, John and Marie were instrumental in getting city legislation passed (Jayce's Law) requiring skateboarders under the age of 18 to wear safety helmets. They also founded the annual Jayce Yoho Memorial Golf Tournament donating proceeds to UNF-Shands Trauma One.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am Friday, September 13th at Terry Parker Baptist Church, 7024 Merrill Road, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Pastor Jim Robinett will officiate. Interment will be in the Arlington Park Cemetery, 6921 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville and a Celebration of Life will follow at Blue Sky Golf Club, 1700 Monument Road, Jacksonville.
