Obituary of Johnny Vessell

Johnny "Johnboy" Laine Vessell, 48, entered into rest peacefully on December 27, 2010. He was born to Burnard Vessell and Patricia Ann Truett on July 7, 1962. He attended Red Bug Elementary as a child and then went to Terry Parker High School. He also attended Penn State College and Florida State College, most recently working towards his Bachelors Degree for special needs children.

He was proud of his work with the USO and was an Ambassador for Jacksonville International Airport. He was a successful artist and had many pieces shown throughout the Jacksonville metropolitan area. Johnny practiced cosmetology and had his own private hair salon. He worked in merchandising for many years.

Most of all, he was a loving son, brother, life partner. He gave to each and every one of us, a loving, caring, funny humorous and outgoing heart. He left us to never forget in our hearts, He was the rock whom everyone leaned on in many different ways and directions. He was the glue that kept the entire piece of the family together for 48 years.



Johnny leaves to cherish his memories, his parents, Burnard Vessell and Patricia Truett; life partner, Jeffrey Charles Michael Smith; kids, Wheetie "Milo", Shorty, Jazz, and Sabel; sisters, Rhonda Lynn may, April Michelle McGee, and Angie Vessell; brothers, William Joseph Vessell and Crispin Eugene Vessell; Nieces, Courtney Marie Shaw, Ashley Morgan Shaw, Daneyelle Laine Shaw, Patricia Elisa McGee, Brianna Lynn Shaw, Mikayla Cheyenne Vessell; nephews, John Woodrow Epps, Christopher Lee Epps, Christopher Adam McGee, Robert Andrew Vessell , and Ruffin Pleas Vessell, and many friends.

Johnboy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His absence has left a void that no one will ever be able to fill.
