Obituary of Johnny Wilson

Johnny Wilson was born in Royce City, Texas on November 11, 1947 to Herman Wilson and Eula Mae Mills. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers and 1 sister: Sonny Wilson, Booty Wilson and Mariene Butler.

Johnny attended Carver High School where he played football and was inducted into the Texas High School Hall of Fame as a defensive end. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1967 and attended Supply School before being sent to Viet Nam until 1969. Johnny was awarded a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Meritorious Service ribbon and Good Conduct Medal.

Johnny entered Eastfield College were he obtained an Associates Degree in Management before going on to Prairie View College for Pre-Law. He also earned a Radio and Television certificate from the Columbia School of Broadcasting. Johnny did radio and TV commercials for a local law firm.

Johnny's passion was always golf to the point that he entered and won a local professional golf tournament.

Johnny leaves behind his loving wife of 44 years, Mary Ann Wilson; three sons John Juan (Sonya) Wilson, Kevin Wilson, Rhett Mellina; daughter: Ashley Avalon Bellos; three sisters: Irene White, Ruby Bohanon, Jessie Mae Brown; nine grandchildren and a host of loving friends.

A Graveside Service will be held 11a.m. Monday April 20, 2015, at Arlington Memorial Cemetery. 6921 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211 with Father Mike Williams officiating. A 1 hour visitation will precede the service. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Arlington Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211. (904) 724-6384.
