Joy M. Lockwood was born to Jack and Meta Schnell Hasle on May 17, 1931 in Houston, TX. She passed away at her home in Jacksonville surrounded by family on January 10, 2019.

She was a Navy wife for more than 23 years, a talented and resourceful homemaker, and most importantly a mother and grandmother. She was a past President of the Riverside Women's Garden Club, a lifetime member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, and a member of MADD. She enjoyed gardening, swimming, raising children, and was an avid reader.

Joy was preceded in death by her grandsons Loren D. Jones and D. Wallace Palmer. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Roy E. Lockwood and her five children: Randall (Leslie) Lockwood, Candace (Elliot) Palmer, Merrilea (Bob) Bilik, Melodie (John) Alderson of Jacksonville and Robin (Wendi) of Texas. She has 16 surviving grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to the charity of your choice.
