On August 1st, 2025, Joyce Carlton, the only daughter of William and Geraldine Largen, left her earthly home to enter her eternal home in God's Kingdom. There she was reunited with her parents, her husband of 60 years, Marshall Carlton, Son William Carlton, granddaughter Tracey Carlton, her brother Robert Largen, sisters-in-law Ann and Louise Largen, and brothers-in-law Joe and Royce Carlton. She is survived by one son, Marshall Warren Carlton Jr., grandsons William (Katt), James (Cambrie), and Johnathon, great grandson Rodney, brothers Joe, Roy (Sandra), Charles (JoAnn), Kenneth (Joni), brother-in-law Gaston and sister-in-law Ruth Carlton, sister-in-law Cathy Carlton and many nieces and nephews.

Joyce was born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1943 and moved to Jacksonville, along with her family, in the 1950s. She was employed by the Gatlin Insurance Agency in the 1960s and 1970s and left that job to raise her children. In the 1980s, with her children grown, she re-entered the  workforce with American Surety and Casualty until moving over to work for the U.S. Treasury Department, where she worked until her retirement in the early 2000s.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, August 12th from 6-8 p.m. at Arlington Park Funeral Home at 6920 Lone Star Road in Jacksonville, Florida. Joyce's Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday August 13th at 10:30 a.m. at this same location.

In keeping with Joyce's wish that everyone in her home be comfortable, we ask that visitors be comfortable in their attire. You may wear a suit or dress if you wish, but she would never want anyone to have to purchase anything new for such an occasion. Also, in keeping with her wishes, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or another worthwhile charity of your choice.
