Joyce Holland Chaffe, age 86, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, June 12th, 2016. She was born December 14th, 1929, daughter of Howard Holland and Aline Pickett.

Mrs. Chaffe was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and devout Christian woman. She never met a stranger. She was a Florida Community College graduate. She was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society and Order of the Eastern Star. She pursued many different careers throughout her life, from working with the IRS, selling real-estate, and managing the family business, C&B Oil Company. Her time as a substitute teacher for the Duval County school system brought her much joy because she truly loved to teach and enrich the lives of everyone she met.

She had a love for painting, playing the piano, cooking for family and friends, and researching family genealogy. Most importantly, she loved her family. She always made everyone feel loved and always put others before herself. Her sweet and loving spirit will truly be missed.

She is preceded in death by her son Christopher W. Chaffe and sisters Janette Holland and Martha Land.

Mrs. Chaffe is survived by husband of 68 years, Christopher B. Chaffe, daughters Cherie Katin and Christy Chaffe, brothers Ike and Tom Thornton, grand children Amanda Rhodes, Ashley Syla, Michael Chaffe, and Raya Ghajar, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests for a Visitation 5 to 7PM, Wednesday, June 15th, 2016 at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211

A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 11 am Thursday June 16th, 2016 at Arlington Christian Church 8075 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32211 with Pastor Glenn Turner officiating.
