Obituary

Joynie DeFoor left this world on September 27, 2022 at age 89. She was a wonderful wife to her husband of 69 years, Dan, and was an exceptional mother to her children, Terri and Nathan.

Much of her time and energy was devoted to taking care of Terri, who had severe cerebral palsy and was in a wheelchair from a young age. Joynie not only aided Terri with day-to-day life but also helped her achieve things few thought possible.

Joynie also volunteered in churches and schools and for money raising activities for cerebral palsy organizations.

While in her 60s, her husband gave her an oboe and she happily reacquainted herself with the instrument she learned to play in high school. She played for First Coast Pops for many years.

Joynie was predeceased by daughter Terri and she is survived by her husband, son, brother Robert and sister Margaret.

A visitation will be held at Arlington Park Funeral Home on October 7th, 2022 at 10am, followed by a funeral service at 11am. There will then be a brief graveside service across the street at Arlington Park Cemetery at 12pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Community Hospice or to the Samuel C. Taylor Foundation, which oversees Taylor Residences, the non-profit retirement village where Joynie spent the last several years of her life.
