Obituary

Judy Cassady, a noteworthy figure in our community, was born on June 2, 1940 and left us on September 14, 2026. Judy was well-known for her polite, thoughtful, generous, and kind personality. Her life was a testament to the caring and loving character she embodied, which was evident in every interaction she had with others.

One of Judy's proudest accomplishments was her work in the nursing field. Her compassion and dedication extended beyond the professional realm and into her personal life. After several years in nursing, Judy continued her career at Vista Products until her well-deserved retirement.

Judy was also exceptionally talented in hand-making blankets and stuffed animals. Her creations weren't just commodities, but symbols of love and care. She selflessly donated these handcrafted items to the local children’s hospital, providing warmth and comfort to the young patients.

She enjoyed a life of simple pleasures such as caring for her many plants, reading and putting together puzzles. She was especially exceptional with the care of orchids, and spent many years nurturing her own, and rehabbing them for family and friends.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, particularly to her family, her daughters Jodi Cassady and Lori Schmidt (Chris), son Mark Cassady (Debbie), grandkids Courtnee Cassady (Paige), Mason Cassady, and Bryan Schmidt, her sister Jan Medgyesi (Paul) and several nieces and nephews, who survives her. They will all treasure the memories of Judy, whose love and presence shaped their lives and the lives of many others throughout her community.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband Billy J. Cassady, her parents Carl & Mildred Ostertag, her mother & father in law George T. & Frances Cassady, her brothers and sister in law Walter Cassady, Sheila & Bill Arnau, Bradley Cassady, and her nephew Troy Cassady.

In honor of Judy's remarkable life, a visitation will be held on September 17, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Arlington Park Funeral Home & Cemetery. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, and then immediately followed by a committal service. These occasions will provide an opportunity for friends, family, and community members to share their fondest memories of Judy and celebrate the wonderful life she led.

Judy Cassady's genuine kindness and generosity will continue to influence those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her dedication to helping others and her indelible spirit will be remembered and cherished for generations to come.
