Obituary

Kenneth Terrence White, known as Terry White to all who knew and loved him, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in Jacksonville, FL. Terry was born in Jacksonville on August 15, 1942 to Napoleon Bonaparte (N.B.) and Marijane Spivey White. Terry was a wonderful son, brother, father, grandfather and friend to all his human companions. He was also the most loving caregiver to a menagerie of animals that he nurtured at his farm in Ft. White. Terry was a cowboy at heart and loved his horses, especially his beloved Cherokee. He also cared for mini-horses, goats, steers, cats and his cherished dogs at his home in the Florida country.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Napoleon and Marijane, and brother, Norman White. He is survived by his sister Karen Eby (Bill); two children, Lisa Vann (Cliff) and David White (Kelly); two grandchildren, Holley Brick (Jonathan) and Bradley Vann; his great-grandson Ayden Brick; his sister-in-law Eileen (Norman's widow); numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Terry was a graduate of Florida State University and worked for nearly 30 years for the State of Florida. Terry was passionate about many things throughout his life; family, friends, weightlifting, music and animals. He won numerous competitions in the sport of weightlifting, alongside his good friends Joe and Virgil Dub. As he turned his attention to family, his hobbies turned to music. He taught himself how to play the guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and harmonica. His harmonica was the easiest to keep in his pocket and he played it often for all that would listen. He often gave the harmonica as gifts to family and friends. Terry will be remembered for his kind heart, joking spirit, generosity and his love of nature.
Terry's life will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 7 at Arlington Park Funeral Home at 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL 32211.
