In Loving Memory of Kierstyn Danielle Fowler

She was born in Gainesville, Florida at Shands UF on February 5, 2009 and went to be with the Lord on November 2, 2009. Kierstyn left behind her Mommy- Kellie Danielle Fowler, one brother, her Godfather (her only Diddy) Randall Mclain Suttles, Godmother- Danielle Marie Suttles, her Grandfather (Pa Pa) David T. Fowler, her Grandmother (Granny) Carol A. Fowler (Derek Bentley), Linda C. Fowler (Sean Welk), uncles, David T Fowler II "Uncle Tit" and Josh Sozanski, cousins, Arianna M. Sozanski, Samantha A. Welk, Allie Williams and Josh Williams. She had many other Granny's, Me Me's, uncles, aunts and if we wrote them all down you would be reading names forever.

Kierstyn touched many lives and was very loved by everyone. She was an Angel sent from GOD to change all of our lives, and she did just that. She not only had her family at home, but also had her family within the Doctor's offices and the hospital. If you would have seen her with her doctors you would have thought she was their very own child, no if, ands or buts about it.

The following doctors are the reasons why we were able to have Kierstyn with us for as long as we did. Dr. James Joyce (her Cardiologist), Dr. Mark Bleiweis (her Cardiothoracic Surgeon), Dr. Sunil Mulholtra (her Cardiac Surgeon), Dr. Barbara O'Reilly (her Pediatrician), Dr. Joseph Paolillo "Dr. Joe" and Dr. F. Jay Fricker with the Heart Transplant team. Her nurses were Joni and Barbara Williams and many more.

We found out Kierstyn was going to be born with HLHS through a sonogram during the 16th week of pregnancy and she was closely monitored throughout the remainder of the pregnancy by Dr. Joyce and other high rick doctors at Shands Gainesville. It was a very long road for her. After she was born she had to have her first surgery, when she was only seven days old, by Dr. Bleiweis and Dr. Mulholtra. After she left the hospital she was being followed up by Dr. Joyce and Dr. O'Reilly several times a week until the time for her next open heart surgery, the Glenn procedure, which she had on September 8th. Due to a valve in her heart being defective, the surgery failed and she had to be placed on the heart transplant list. On the evening of Monday, September 21st, Dr. Fricker placed her on the heart transplant list as a status 1A and on Wednesday morning, the 23rd, a heart was found and by that evening she was in surgery again. At that time, I felt like all our pain and suffering was going to go away but now I know that was only the start.

Kierstyn lived a life that was little to us, but big for her. I am glad we have great family, friends and doctors that were with us and helped us to live our lives with her everyday like it was that last day. She was the happiest baby I've ever seen in my eyes to go every day with a smile, even with a breathing tube and being poked and prodded every time she turned around. Our thanks go out to everyone who was there during her very short life.
