Kirk Nelson Armstrong, 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Brookdale Orange Park Assisted Living in Orange Park, Florida, under the compassionate care of VITAS Healthcare hospice services.
Born on November 19, 1945, in Orange, New Jersey, Kirk was the son of the late Howard Nelson Armstrong and Hazel Viola Armstrong. At the age of 8, he moved with his family to Jacksonville, Florida, where he later graduated from Terry Parker Junior-Senior High School in 1963. He was a proud member of the school's swimming team.
Kirk earned a degree in Criminology from Florida State University and began his career in social services for the State of Florida. He later worked at the Glidden Chemical Plant—now SYMRISE—for 37 years, where he retired. He was also active in his community, serving as President of the Lake Lucina Association, and resided on Lake Lucina in the Arlington area of Jacksonville.
Kirk had a passion for restoring and repairing classic cars and was a dedicated landlord of several rental properties. He will be remembered for his quiet demeanor, kind heart, and thoughtful acts of kindness toward his many friends and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dale Howard Armstrong; and his cousin, Bruce Cheetham.
Kirk is survived by his sister, Jill Armstrong Wrenn (Tommy); two nieces, Jennifer Lynn Armstrong of Marietta, California, and Tricia Kim Armstrong of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and their mother, Susan Jennings (Gary). He is also survived by his dear friend Jeanette Holocher, her children Drew and Brittany Holocher, and her grandchildren Prince, Humana, and Miles.
Additional surviving relatives include cousins Dean Docherty (Newton, NJ), Alan Egner (Orlando, FL), Susan Heneka and husband Craig (Wesley Chapel, FL), Dale Cheetham (Palmetto, FL), and cousin-in-law Katie Cheetham (Massachusetts), as well as many cherished friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM, and a reception with food and beverages. All services will take place at Arlington Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL.
