Larry David Abney, age 66, of Jacksonville, FL died January 11, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville, FL surrounded by family. He was born on September 16, 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Dorothy Abney and brother, William "Billy" Abney.

Larry is survived by sisters, Mrs. Ruth Nipper (Marvin) and Jane Elkins; and sons, David Abney (Erica), Daniel Abney (Jennifer), and Jonathan Abney.

Mr. Abney served the Vietnam War in the 11th Armored Calvary, Infantry Division of the US Army. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct medal. His hobbies included fishing, boating, and caring for his dogs, Sweetie and Ginger. He was a kind and loving man who will be missed by all who knew him.

A Graveside Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held Sunday, 11 AM, February 5, 2017 at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32205
