Larry Albert Cook (82) of Jacksonville, Florida passed peacefully on July 27, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. Larry was born March 2, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to Albert and Virginia Cook. He was raised in Detroit and Davison Michigan along with his brothers Phillip and Kenneth. He was a graduate of Davison High School, and attended Flint Junior College. Larry served honorably in the United States Air Force as an Airman 2nd class from 1961 to 1965. Following his military service, he was employed as, first, an electronics technician, working his way up to district project manager for several companies until his retirement in 1994. Larry married Carolyn Bloomer of Flint, Michigan in 1963. They raised two sons, Todd and Cory, in Flushing, Michigan and Jacksonville, Florida, having moved to Jacksonville in 1977. Larry was a talented artist, and loved to work with his hands on both building projects and computer repairs. He was active with his sons in both Indian Guides and Boy Scouts. Larry and Carolyn were avid square dancers for many years. Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Carolyn, and his sons and daughter-in-law, Todd Cook and Cory and Christina Cook, both of Jacksonville. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Julia Cook of Callaway, Florida, and his sister-in-law, Deb Takes Cook of Harleysville, Pennsylvania, and several cousins. He will be sorely missed, and forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Wounded Warriors or the charity of your choice. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Jacksonville National Cemetery. A memorial/celebration of life service will be held at a later date, to be announced.
