IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry
Mitchell
October 26, 1947 – January 27, 2022
Larry Gene "Mitch" Mitchell passed Thursday evening surrounded with his family by his side. Mitch was born October 26, 1947, in Portageville, Missouri to Noal and Elizabeth Mitchell. He graduated from Harlem High School in Rockford, IL with the class of 1965. He then joined the U.S. Navy in 1966 and was a Combat Veteran and a Vietnam Purple Heart and Bronze Star Receipt.
He met the love of his life in 1966, sitting on a park bench in Jacksonville Beach, FL. He told his buddies, "Fellows, I just met the woman I'm going to marry." On January 27, 1970, he married the love of his life Patricia Boone. They went on to have two children, Penny Lynn Mitchell and Noal Everett Mitchell. Penny and Noal blessed Papa (his other nickname) with three grandchildren, Jessica, Gabriel and Emily. While married to Patricia he worked in the automotive repair and insurance business.
Mitch was an avid Outdoorsman. He loved nothing more than to hunt and fish with his son and grandchildren. He loved spending time with family. Nothing brought him more joy than everyone being together. He was truly the Patriarch of the family.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Mitchell; his children, Penny Clifton (James) and Noal Mitchell (Laura); three grandchildren, Jessica Kunkle (Roy), Gabriel and Emily Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noal and Elizabeth Mitchell.
Mitch will be most remembered for his kindness, sense of humor and love for his family.
